What Is a Cabana at Discovery Cove?

Discovery Cove offers private cabanas along the beach and near the pools, providing families with a dedicated space to relax, store belongings, and enjoy shade throughout the day.

Cabanas come with amenities like:

  • Comfortable seating and shade (two loungers, and 4 chairs)

  • Private fridge cooler with drinks and snacks (topped up across the day)

  • Towel service

  • Lockable storage

  • Wait service for food and beverages

From our experience visiting in 2014 and again in 2026 with an extended family, a cabana can transform a busy day into a relaxed and organised experience, especially for families with multiple children.

Why Families Consider a Cabana

While Discovery Cove is all-inclusive, having a cabana adds convenience and comfort. Families can:

  • Take breaks without leaving the sun-soaked areas

  • Keep an eye on kids while they swim or snorkel

  • Have a central spot for lunch, snacks, or sunscreen application

  • Store wet suits and towels safely

On our April 2026 visit, we had three children aged 8, 9, and 10 years with us. The cabana allowed us to rotate kids between the Grand Reef, lazy river, and dolphin swim while keeping a calm, shaded base for resting and eating. Without it, we would have spent more time juggling towels, backpacks, and sunscreen between the family.

Cost Considerations

Cabanas are not cheap, with prices in 2026 ranging roughly $700-$900 per day depending on location and size.

  • Cabanas can accommodate 6–8 people, with a maximum of 10 people (although we had 11 guests in our party)

  • Prices vary by season and promotions

From our perspective, for a family of five or more, the cabana cost can be justified for the added convenience, organization, and comfort — particularly if you plan to spend the whole day at Discovery Cove.

When a Cabana Might Not Be Worth It

  • Smaller families who don’t mind sharing beach seating

  • Families on a tighter budget

  • If your visit is short or kids are independent enough to rotate between activities without supervision

In 2014, we opted for a cabana and found it invaluable. In 2026, with a larger family group, we debated skipping it but quickly realized the stress of managing kids and belongings without a dedicated space would have outweighed the cost savings.

What are the alternatives to a cabana?

Other options include day beds that cost approximately $300 or free sun loungers with are dotted around the park in plentiful supply.

Can I select my cabana location?

Our cabana was pre assigned prior to our arrival, we had a great spot next to a dolphin pool.

Final Verdict – Is a Cabana Worth the Money?

For larger families, a cabana at Discovery Cove offers some benefit if budget allows. It provides:

  • Comfort, shade, and convenience

  • A central base for multiple children

  • Easy access to food, drinks, and towels

  • Peace of mind for parents supervising water-based activities

If your family is smaller, or you’re comfortable managing kids and gear without a private space, you might choose to skip it.
