If you stay at a Universal Premier Hotel, Express Unlimited is included for every guest in your room, for every day of your stay (including check-in and check-out days).

A reminder this includes only Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure; Epic Universe and Volcano Bay are not currently included in this pass.

This can completely change the value calculation, especially for families of 4+. Instead of paying per person per day, you’re effectively building it into your accommodation, you can have up to 5 people on a room booking.

Some families even book a “ghost stay” — booking a Universal hotel for the Express Pass without fully using the room — as a way to reduce queue times. Based on what we paid (£660 for one night in April 2026) that would equate to £66 per person per day based on 5 people on the booking, versus the typical price of £100-150 per person when buying the express passes on their own.

Book an Early Entry Hotel Stay (What It Actually Gets You)

One option families often consider is staying at a Universal hotel that includes early park entry.

On paper, this sounds like a great middle ground — you’re not paying for Express Pass, but you still get a head start on the day.

From our experience, it definitely helps — but it’s important to understand what that really looks like in practice.

You typically get around one hour early access to selected parks or rides. With a good plan, you can head straight to the most popular attractions and make that first hour count.

In reality though, what we found was:

• you rush straight to the highest-demand rides

• queues build quickly, even during early entry

• and that head start is gone faster than you expect

You will realistically managed one, possibly two major rides before the general admission crowds arrived.

After that, the day becomes much more like a standard park visit, with regular queue times.
