JORDANWHERE TO STAY

If you're looking for an honest Grand Tala Bay Resort Aqaba review and wondering whether it's the best family hotel in Aqaba, Jordan, this guide is for you.

Quick answer: Is Grand Tala Bay Resort Aqaba Good for Families?

Yes — for our family, Grand Tala Bay Resort was exactly what we needed. After the busy sightseeing days in Amman, Petra and Wadi Rum, it gave us a chance to slow down, enjoy the Red Sea and actually relax. The combination of pools, slides, beachfront access and family-friendly facilities made it one of the easiest hotels of the trip.

When researching where to stay in Aqaba with kids, we kept coming back to Grand Tala Bay Resort because it seemed to strike the right balance between facilities, location and price. After staying there, we'd happily recommend it to other families looking for a Red Sea resort with kids in Jordan.

In this review, I'll cover the pools, beach, food, rooms, location and whether Grand Tala Bay Resort is worth the money for families.

Just a quick note: some links in this guide are affiliate links. This doesn't affect the price you pay, and we only recommend hotels we'd happily stay at again ourselves.

Is Grand Tala Bay Resort Good for Families?

For us, absolutely.

The biggest reason is that it doesn't feel like a typical hotel. It feels much more like a family resort.

Once we arrived, there was very little reason to leave. Everything we needed was on site:

  • pools

  • beach

  • restaurants

  • kids' facilities

  • a small shop for swim toys and essentials

After a fairly active Jordan itinerary, that convenience was exactly what we were looking for. Unlike Petra or Wadi Rum, Aqaba isn't about constantly planning the next activity. Grand Tala Bay worked because it made doing very little feel like a good use of time.

We spent a long time researching where to stay in Aqaba and were genuinely happy with our choice. The combination of pools, beach access and family-friendly facilities at Grand Tala Bay Resort was exactly what we needed at the end of a busy Jordan itinerary.

Location: Tala Bay vs Central Aqaba

One of the first decisions families need to make is whether to stay in central Aqaba or Tala Bay. For us, Tala Bay was easily the better choice.

The resort sits directly on the Red Sea coastline, away from the city centre, creating a much more relaxed holiday atmosphere. We weren't looking for restaurants, shopping or nightlife — we wanted a few days to relax and recover.

Free parking was included, which was useful as we were self-driving Jordan.

If your priority is:

  • beach access

  • pools

  • family downtime

  • resort facilities

then Tala Bay is hard to beat.

The Pools: Why Kids will Love This Hotel

The pools were probably the biggest hit.

The resort has several outdoor pools, including:

  • large family pools

  • smaller children's pools

  • water slides

  • shallow splash areas

Joshua our 7 year old son spent most of his time moving between the pools and beach.

What we particularly liked was that there were plenty of loungers and shaded areas. We never felt like we were competing for space, even during busier parts of the day.

Looking back, this is what made Aqaba work so well after Petra and Wadi Rum. We didn't need to entertain Joshua constantly because the resort largely did that for us.

Looking back, this was where Grand Tala Bay Resort really justified our choice. After so much walking and sightseeing elsewhere in Jordan, having pools that kept Joshua entertained for hours gave everyone a chance to properly switch off.

Private Beach and Red Sea Access

The beach is one of Grand Tala Bay's strongest features.

The Red Sea here is:

  • warm

  • clear

  • generally calm

  • easy to access

The private beach felt clean and well maintained, with loungers nearby and easy access back to the pools.

One thing we noticed is that Joshua split his time between the beach and pools rather than choosing one or the other. Having both available within a few minutes' walk made the whole stay feel effortless.

If you're researching an Aqaba hotel with a private beach and pool, this is exactly the type of setup most families are looking for.

Rooms and Family Accommodation

The rooms were comfortable, practical and worked well for a family stay. More importantly, they gave us enough space to spread out after moving regularly between hotels throughout the trip.

The resort felt very family-orientated, and we never had the feeling that children were an inconvenience. That might sound like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference when travelling.

Food, Breakfast and Restaurants

Food was another pleasant surprise. Breakfast was included and offered plenty of options for both adults and children, making mornings easy.

We also ate several meals at the resort and found:

  • the food good

  • prices reasonable

  • service straightforward

After a busy Jordan road trip, we had no desire to start researching restaurants every evening. Having decent food available on site made life very easy.

How Many Nights Should Families Stay?

We stayed for two nights and thought that worked well.

It gave us enough time to:

  • relax

  • enjoy the pools

  • spend time at the beach

  • recover from Petra and Wadi Rum

If your itinerary allows, I'd recommend 2–3 nights in Aqaba.

Any less and the stay starts to feel rushed. See our 9-Day Jordan Family Itinerary: Petra, Dead Sea, Wadi Rum & Aqaba Road Trip to see exactly where Aqaba fits into a family route.

Who Is This Hotel Best For?

Grand Tala Bay Resort is ideal for:

  • families with children

  • travellers looking for a resort feel

  • visitors wanting beach and pool access

  • families finishing a Jordan road trip

It may be less suitable if:

  • you want to be in central Aqaba

  • you're focused on nightlife

  • you're only staying one night

What We Liked Most

For our family, the highlights were:

  • the pools and slides with complimentary pool towels

  • direct beach access

  • plenty of seating and shade

  • included breakfast

  • family-friendly atmosphere

  • free parking

  • a small shop selling balls and swim toys

  • not feeling the need to leave the resort

Most importantly, it gave us exactly what we needed at that stage of the trip: a break.

Final Verdict: Is Grand Tala Bay Resort the Best Family Base in Aqaba?

For us, yes. If you're looking for a family-friendly resort in Aqaba, Grand Tala Bay Resort offers a great balance of pools, beach access, family facilities and value.

It's not the place to stay if you're planning to be out sightseeing every day. It is the place to stay if you want a few days of Red Sea sunshine, pool time and family relaxation at the end of a Jordan adventure.

Looking back, staying at Grand Tala Bay Resort was one of the easiest decisions of our Jordan trip. After Petra and Wadi Rum, having somewhere we could simply relax, enjoy the Red Sea and spend time together as a family was exactly what we needed before heading home.
