EUROPETURKEYWHERE TO STAY

2/28/20265 min read

If you’re visiting Istanbul with kids, one of the biggest questions isn’t what to see — it’s:

Where can you actually relax?

Because Istanbul itself is busy, fast-paced and full-on. After a few days of sightseeing, what many families really need is a calmer base with space, a pool and no pressure to keep moving.

This guide is for families with school‑aged children who want an easy, low‑stress place to stay near Istanbul — whether that’s at the end of a trip or just as a quieter alternative to the city.

Quick Answer: Is Ramada Silivri a Good Place to Stay with Kids?

Yes — if your priority is downtime rather than sightseeing.

  • resort-style setup with pool

  • space to relax after busy days

  • much quieter than central Istanbul

It’s not about exploring the city — it’s about stepping away from it for a few days.

We stayed at Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Silivri and it felt completely different from central Istanbul hotels. It’s the kind of place where you slow down — pool time, easy meals, and no real plan for the day.

In this review, we’ll break down what it’s actually like for families, what worked well, and whether it’s the right choice depending on how you want your Istanbul stay to feel.

Where helpful, we’ve included links to check availability and compare options. These may be affiliate links, but we only ever recommend places we’ve personally stayed or would happily book again.

This works really well as a calmer base — but if you’re building your full Istanbul plan, where you stay in the city and how you structure your days makes a big difference:

Location & First Impressions

The hotel sits just outside the town of Silivri on the Sea of Marmara, about a 15‑minute walk to the beach or easy to reach by taxi.

It’s quieter than Istanbul, which was exactly what we needed after a busy tour filled with city walks, ruins, and early mornings ballooning in Cappadocia. The setting felt relaxed and a little holiday‑like — not buzzing, but perfect for downtime.

Check‑in was smooth and the lobby felt spacious and welcoming; there’s plenty of space for luggage, which was a nice practical touch as we were still dragging around all our Turkey gear from the rest of the trip.

Rooms & Comfort

Our room was clean, spacious and bright, when we researched this hotel before booking we noted that many guests mention good views of the garden or even glimpses of the sea – we had a nice view of the pool.

The beds were comfortable, and for the most part we slept well — although we did hear the adhan (call to prayer) early in the morning from a nearby mosque, but we had got used to this having been in Turkey for nearly two weeks now.

It’s worth noting that, like many large hotels, some guests reviews reported issues with air conditioning, hot water timing, or pool temperatures but everyone’s experience was slightly different, and our stay was perfectly fine from a comfort perspective.

Pools, Spa & Family Fun

This was honestly the standout for families.

Ramada Silivri has a big outdoor pool, smaller kids’ pools with slides, plus indoor pool access, gym and spa facilities — sauna, steam room, and massage options at extra cost if you want some adult downtime.

Joshua had so much fun in the water parks and slides, and we loved that we could float around poolside while keeping an eye on him.

Multiple pools meant the space never felt too crowded even on a busy weekend. Some guests mentioned cold indoor pool water, but overall the kids’ areas were a hit and kept us there for hours — exactly what you want on a “rest” day after lots of sightseeing.

After a few days in the city, this felt like exactly what we needed — simple, relaxed and easy with kids:

Food & Dining

Breakfast is a full buffet with warm dishes, fruit, pancakes, juice, and local flavours, we found there was plenty of variety first thing in the morning. The onboard restaurant also serves lunch and dinner with international and Turkish selections.

We tried both the buffet and the a la carte in the evenings which came at an additional cost. It’s not fancy food — think more simple and family‑friendly than gourmet.

If you prefer the best local restaurants, a short taxi ride to Silivri town gives you a few more options.

We opted to stay in the hotel to eat, there were limited options available walking distance. However there were local shops accessible on foot, they sold inflatables, snacks like crisps and ice creams and cold drinks (Mark even managed to pick up a couple of beers for the fridge which were difficult to find in Turkey).

What Worked Well for Our Family

  • Pools + kids’ slides: Big winner — hours of entertainment without leaving the hotel.

  • Spa and indoor facilities: Perfect for a rest or a rainier day.

  • Spacious rooms + free parking: Really handy when you’ve got baggage and kids in tow.

  • Quieter location: After busy touring, the calm was a welcome change.

  • Access to local convenient stores

What Was Less Well

  • The hotel is a bit removed from the town centre and nearest beaches, which means taxis or a car are handy for exploring.

  • Restaurants outside the hotel were very limited.

Our Takeaway: Good Family Base, Especially for Relaxation

The hotel was a comfortable, pool‑centric, family‑friendly stay with spa access and space for kids to play, it delivers great value. If your priority is relaxation after lots of activity, this is one of the nicer choices on the Marmara coast.

Would we stay again? Yes — especially for a few extra pool days after a big Turkey trip, but any longer I think you would run out of things to do
