If you're looking for a Bangkok airport hotel for families, this review is for you.
When planning a family trip to Thailand, most hotel research focuses on riverside Bangkok hotels, Phuket resorts or Chiang Mai apartments. But if you have an early morning flight, a late-night arrival or simply want a stress-free final night before heading home, choosing the right family hotel near Suvarnabhumi Airport can make a big difference.
Quick answer: is Summit Windmill Golf Residence Bangkok worth it for families?
Yes. If you need a spacious family-friendly hotel near Bangkok Airport, we'd happily stay here again. The apartment-style rooms, convenient airport location and low-stress experience made it an excellent choice for our final night in Thailand. It's not a resort and it isn't somewhere we'd stay for sightseeing, but that's not what it's designed for.
After two busy weeks exploring Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Phuket with our 8-year-old son Joshua, Summit Windmill turned out to be exactly what we needed: a comfortable, spacious and practical Bangkok airport stopover hotel where we could relax, repack and enjoy one final easy evening before flying home.
This review is for families deciding whether Summit Windmill Golf Residence Bangkok is the right airport hotel for their trip. I'll cover the location, room setup, facilities, food, transport links and whether it's worth booking before or after a long-haul flight with children.

Location: One of the Most Convenient Family Hotels Near Bangkok Airport
The biggest selling point of Summit Windmill Golf Residence Bangkok is its location.
Situated around 20–30 minutes from Suvarnabhumi Airport, depending on traffic, it's ideally positioned for:
Early morning flights
Late-night arrivals
Overnight stopovers
Breaking up long travel days
Families wanting to avoid crossing Bangkok before flying
After two weeks travelling through Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Phuket, the last thing we wanted was another long transfer or a stressful airport morning. Arriving here for our final night felt like a chance to slow down, repack our bags and prepare for the journey home.
This isn't where I'd choose to stay if my goal was sightseeing. Most of Bangkok's main attractions are quite a distance away, so you'll spend unnecessary time travelling if you're using it as a city base. If you're planning to explore temples, markets and the riverside, read Where to Stay in Bangkok With Kids: Best Areas for Temples, Food & Easy Sightseeing, where I compare the best family-friendly areas of Bangkok and explain where we would stay for sightseeing versus convenience.
Instead, think of Summit Windmill as a Bangkok airport stopover hotel. It works exceptionally well at the beginning or end of a Thailand itinerary.
For transport, we simply used Grab throughout our stay. If you're trying to work out the best way to travel around the country, see Getting Around Thailand With Kids: Flights, Trains, Taxis, Grab & Driving Explained.
Room Setup: Why This Worked So Well for Our Family
One of the biggest surprises was just how much space we had.
We've stayed in plenty of family rooms over the years that technically sleep three people but feel cramped the moment you open a suitcase. Summit Windmill was the complete opposite.
Our room included:
A separate bedroom
A spacious living area with sofas
A kitchen area
A balcony overlooking the golf course
Plenty of storage space
After spending much of the trip in traditional hotel rooms, having a separate living area made a noticeable difference.
Joshua could relax watching TV while we packed, sorted laundry and organised the final bits of the trip. It sounds like a small thing, but after a busy holiday having enough space for everyone to spread out felt like a luxury.
It's also one of the reasons I'd recommend this hotel over many standard airport hotels. If you're searching for a Bangkok airport hotel with family rooms or a family hotel near Suvarnabhumi Airport, the apartment-style layout adds a lot of value.
We also took full advantage of the convenience factor.
Rather than heading out again, we ordered takeaway through Grab and spent the evening relaxing in the room. It wasn't exactly authentic Thai cuisine, but after two weeks of constant sightseeing and moving around, a simple takeaway dinner and an early night was exactly what we needed.
If you're considering staying near the airport before flying home, take a look at Summit Windmill Golf Residence Bangkok to see whether the spacious apartment-style rooms and convenient location would work for your family.

Facilities & Amenities: Functional Rather Than Luxurious
It's important to set expectations correctly. Summit Windmill isn't a resort. You won't find kids' clubs, water parks, entertainment programmes or extensive family facilities. Instead, you'll find everything you need for a comfortable overnight stay.
Facilities included:
Outdoor swimming pool
On-site restaurant
Included breakfast
Gym
Golf course views
Free parking
Airport transfer options
The pool was perfectly adequate for a quick swim, but it's not somewhere you'd spend an entire day. Joshua enjoyed jumping in for an hour, but compared to places like Phuket, this definitely wasn't a resort-style experience.
The gym was actually better equipped than we expected, making it a useful option for parents trying to fit in a workout before travelling.
Overall, everything worked well. Nothing particularly impressed us, but nothing disappointed us either.
That's very much the theme of this hotel. It focuses on practicality rather than trying to create a luxury experience.

Food & Dining: Easy Rather Than Memorable
We used the restaurant for lunch and found it perfectly acceptable. The food was good, service was efficient and there were enough options for families.
Breakfast was included and offered exactly what you'd expect from an airport hotel:
Hot breakfast options
Fruit
Cereal
Pastries
Tea and coffee
Fresh juice
There was enough choice to get everyone fed before travelling without feeling rushed.
Pros and Cons
What We Liked
Excellent location near Suvarnabhumi Airport
Spacious apartment-style rooms
Separate living area
Good value for the amount of space
Easy Grab access
Low-stress arrival and departure
Breakfast included
Things to Be Aware Of
Not suitable for sightseeing Bangkok
Limited facilities compared to resorts
Small pool
Little within walking distance
Lacks atmosphere compared to destination hotels
Because we'd already completed most of our Bangkok sightseeing earlier in the trip, we were happy to spend our final evening relaxing rather than heading back into the city. Final Verdict: Would We Stay at Summit Windmill Golf Residence Again?
Absolutely, but only for the same purpose.
Summit Windmill Golf Residence isn't one of those hotels you'll tell your friends they have to visit. It doesn't have the wow factor of a luxury Phuket resort or the character of a boutique hotel in Chiang Mai.
What it does offer is something arguably more important at the end of a family holiday: convenience.
After two weeks travelling around Thailand with Joshua, having a spacious apartment-style room, a short airport transfer and a completely stress-free final evening felt like exactly the right way to finish the trip.
If you're looking for a family hotel near Bangkok Airport, a Bangkok airport stopover hotel, or somewhere comfortable to stay before an early flight, I'd happily recommend it.
For the start or end of a Thailand family itinerary, it does exactly what you need it to do. If you're flying from Suvarnabhumi Airport and want one final, low-stress night before heading home, it's worth checking out Summit Windmill Golf Residence, I have added the link here. We'd happily stay here again for exactly that purpose.
